Shannon Hillenmeyer
MSW Clinical Social Work
LCSW
Shannon attributes part of her passion for the human experience to growing up in seven different states, with exposure to varying cultures and backgrounds. Her first stint in Tennessee provided her an undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University and in 2012 she completed her Masters in Social Work at The University of Chicago. Since that time, she has facilitated individual and group therapy in both private practice and agency settings. In 2017, Shannon moved back to Nashville with her husband Hunter and their three daughters.
Shannon believes that holding space for a person’s vulnerabilities and healing is an honor. She aims to foster a safe and inviting therapeutic relationship, always built on the pillar of trust. Shannon’s counseling is influenced by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and the Family Systems model. In addition, her approach is inspired by a mind-body approach to healing. She specializes in both individual (adolescent, adult) and family therapy, with experience in anxiety, depression, addiction, grief, and other adjustment work. Shannon is also trained in EMDR, and she uses this approach when working with clients who have experienced trauma. She views counseling as an incredible avenue to ignite healing, reflection, and growth for anyone who is willing to be open and seen. She is grateful to share in this journey.
